A tragic traffic accident on the Juan Pablo Segundo Highway, near the entrance to La Reforma on the Samaná road, resulted in the death of a man and left several people injured.
The victim was identified as Jorge Iván Cáceres Fernández, originally from Moca, who was driving a white Ford SUV.
A woman identified as Vilma Santana was also traveling in the vehicle and was seriously injured. Initial reports indicate that the SUV collided with a rice truck. The truck’s occupants suffered only minor injuries.
The accident occurred near the Don Francisco rest stop, on the stretch that connects Santo Domingo with Samaná.
Agents from DIGESETT, along with the National Police and the 9-1-1 Emergency System, quickly arrived at the scene to assist those affected.
Authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the cause of the accident and determine responsibility.
