In the aftermath of the LaGuardia crash, investigators are piecing together the final, chaotic moments before impact. The Bombardier CRJ-900 had been cleared, its crew trusting that the runway was theirs alone.

That trust was shattered when the aircraft struck a Port Authority vehicle, killing both pilots and injuring many on board. For the families, the horror is matched only by the belief that it didn’t have to happen.
