Those small red spots can mean very different things, depending on how they look and what else you’re feeling. Bright, dome‑shaped cherry angiomas are usually harmless collections of blood vessels that appear with age and may only be a cosmetic concern.

Tiny red or purple petechiae that don’t fade when pressed can be more serious, sometimes linked to infections or blood and clotting problems, especially if they show up suddenly.

Red dots tied to irritation, allergies, eczema, or contact dermatitis often itch, burn, or feel dry, and may be triggered by soaps, detergents, fabrics, or foods. Keratosis pilaris creates rough “chicken skin” bumps on arms or thighs, while heat rash flares in hot, sweaty conditions and settles as the skin cools.
