I asked to speak with the manager privately and explained that the waitress didn\u2019t seem careless \u2014 she seemed overwhelmed.<\/p>\n<p>I mentioned she looked exhausted and distracted, and that her reaction felt like someone under a lot of pressure. The manager sighed and admitted she\u2019d been dealing with personal struggles and an unusually tough week. He thanked me for choosing patience instead of anger. Before leaving, I spotted the waitress anxiously cleaning a table. She apologized for snapping and said the note meant more than she could express.<\/p>\n<p>She\u2019d been working double shifts while caring for a sick family member, and the stress finally broke through. My wife\u2019s anger melted instantly. On the drive home, she admitted she assumed I was going in to complain.
