Hollywood is mourning the loss of one of its greatest legends, Robert Redford, who passed away at 89 in his Utah home.<\/strong><\/p>\n

But for of actress, the grief cuts even deeper.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Robert Redford wasn\u2019t just a movie star \u2014 he was the definition of one. With his golden hair, piercing blue eyes, and effortless charm, he turned heads everywhere he went. People didn\u2019t just admire him, they fell in love with him.<\/p>\n

From the moment he stepped into Hollywood, it was clear he had something special. Secretaries reportedly rushed out of their offices just to catch a glimpse of him walking by. Fans adored him, and directors knew instantly he had the kind of screen presence that couldn\u2019t be taught.<\/p>\n

Another person who fell for the charismatic actor was Jane Fonda.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Grace and Frankie<\/em> star broke down as she shared her heartbreak over the man who had captured her heart on screen \u2014 and in many ways, off screen too.<\/p>\n

Fell madly in love with him<\/h2>\n

\u201cIt hit me hard this morning when I read that Bob was gone. I can\u2019t stop crying. He meant a lot to me and was a beautiful person in every way. He stood for an America we have to keep fighting for,\u201d Fonda said in a statement through her rep.<\/p>\n

Their cinematic partnership stretched over five decades \u2014 from\u00a0Tall Story<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Barefoot in the Park<\/em>\u00a0to\u00a0Our Souls at Night<\/em>, their final film together.<\/p>\n

And with each role, their bond only seemed to grow stronger.<\/p>\n

On Instagram,\u00a0Fonda\u00a0shared a photo from the set of\u00a0Our Souls at Night<\/em>\u00a0alongside Redford and actor Iain Armitage, reflecting on years of friendship, laughter, and unforgettable memories.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very sad today. Cried all morning. But luckily, I can think back on so many joyful, laughter-filled moments when his practical jokes would crack me up. I feel so lucky to have made one of his first big movies with him,\u00a0Barefoot in the Park<\/em>\u00a0(I fell madly in love with him on that one) and his last (the aforementioned\u00a0Souls at Night<\/em>),\u201d she\u00a0wrote.<\/p>\n

Her words turned painfully honest when she admitted one regret:<\/p>\n

\u201cI was wanting to go see him these last few months to make sure we were all right between us but I didn\u2019t act on it soon enough. Lesson learned. When people are our age, late 80s, don\u2019t wait.\u201d<\/p>\n

And in a final message to Redford, she wrote: \u201cThank you, dearest Bob, for all the pleasure you brought over the years. RIP.\u201d<\/p>\n

This wasn\u2019t the first time Fonda had openly admitted how much Redford meant to her. Looking back on a publicity photo from\u00a0Barefoot in the Park<\/em>, she once gushed, \u201cHe is so handsome and just such a wonderful human being. Every movie I made with him, I developed a crush on him.\u201d<\/p>\n

In a 2017 interview with The Guardian, she didn\u2019t hold back either: \u201cAnd I was always in love with Robert Redford \u2013 I made three films with him and nothing happened because I was married and he was married.\u201d<\/p>\n

And in a rare joint interview, she remembered the first time she ever laid eyes on him. As Redford walked down the corridor of an administration building, secretaries rushed out of their offices just to watch him pass. Fonda instantly knew he was destined for stardom: \u201cThere was nobody more gorgeous than him.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his part, Redford never hid his admiration for her either. While promoting\u00a0Our Souls at Night<\/em>, he described Fonda as \u201ca force,\u201d adding: \u201cIt is an admirable quality and I think, very few people have it like Jane does.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Fonda admitted the film gave her one more chance to fall in love with him \u2014 on screen, at least. Redford joked that he\u2019d love to work with her again, but time wasn\u2019t on their side.<\/p>\n

From\u00a0Barefoot in the Park<\/em>\u00a0in 1967 to their final embrace at the Venice Film Festival premiere of\u00a0Our Souls at Night<\/em>\u00a0in 2017, their bond was undeniable \u2014 the kind of Hollywood magic that felt real because, for them, it was.<\/p>\n

Talking about their Netflix film\u00a0Our Souls at Night<\/em>, Fonda once joked, \u201cThere is eventually a love scene. I\u2019m happy with the love scene. I\u2019m unhappy because it was so short!\u201d<\/p>\n

Reflecting on their long history together, she laughed, \u201cI\u2019ve been in bed with him a lot,\u201d and later confessed, \u201cI live for sex scenes with [Redford].\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201dThe only problem with working with Bob is I kind of look into his eyes and I kind of fall into his eyes and forget my dialogue,\u201d Fonda told Ellen DeGeneres in 2017.<\/p>\n

\u201dI realize that I\u2019ve grown up because in the three previous movies, I was always in love with him. I fell in love with him every time.\u201d<\/p>\n
