Adding to the heartbreak surrounding Brandon Blackstock\u2019s passing, his 23-year-old daughter, Savannah Blackstock Lee, revealed earlier this summer that she is expecting her second child.<\/p>\n
The news surfaced just weeks before relatives confirmed that Blackstock \u2014 who was married to Kelly Clarkson from 2013 to 2022 \u2014 had died at the age of 48 after a three-year battle with cancer.<\/p>\n
In a July Instagram post, Savannah, a Florida-based real estate professional, shared that she and her husband, Quentin Lee, had been \u201ckeeping a couple sweet surprises.\u201d She revealed that they are expecting a baby girl in early January, joining their daughter Julianna, who she called \u201cone of the greatest blessings to our family.\u201d<\/p>\n
Expressing her faith, Savannah wrote, \u201cThe Lord has been so faithful. He\u2019s written a story we never could\u2019ve imagined, and His kindness in this season has left us in awe. He\u2019s answered prayers we never even knew how to pray. This journey has been so special \u2014 full of peace, excitement, and so much grace. We\u2019re growing again, and our hearts are so full. Savannah, who is Blackstock\u2019s daughter with ex-wife Melissa Ashworth, is also mother to a three-year-old son named Lake. Blackstock and Ashworth, married from 2001 to 2012, also share a 19-year-old son, Seth. Blackstock later welcomed two more children \u2014 River, 10, and Remington, 8 \u2014 with Clarkson.<\/p>\n
Following Blackstock\u2019s death, his family released a statement: \u201cIt is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family\u2019s privacy during this very difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n
On August 6, Clarkson announced she was postponing the remainder of her August Studio Sessions in Las Vegas, citing the need to be fully present for her children during the family\u2019s difficult time.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile I normally keep my personal life private, this past year my children\u2019s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness, and understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n
A source told People that Clarkson is \u201cdevastated\u201d by her ex-husband\u2019s death, adding that she remained protective of him for the sake of their children. The source noted that \u201cit became clear earlier this year that Brandon was not doing well\u201d and that Clarkson has been deeply concerned for her kids during the ordeal.<\/p>\n
