But no one ever prepared me to lose my own daughter.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0These poignant words come from a devastated father mourning his 8-year-old daughter,\u00a0<strong>Mary Stevens<\/strong>, who tragically died after severe flash flooding struck\u00a0<strong>Camp Mystic<\/strong>\u00a0in Texas Hill Country during the July 4th weekend of 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Camp Mystic, a beloved summer camp known for fostering joy, adventure, and friendship along the\u00a0<strong>Guadalupe River<\/strong>, was overwhelmed when floodwaters rose rapidly\u2014more than 25 feet in less than an hour\u2014leaving campers and staff little time to escape.<\/p>\n<div class=\"code-block code-block-2\"><\/div>\n<p>Mary, remembered by friends and family as a bright and cheerful girl, was reported missing immediately. Despite tireless efforts from search and rescue teams, her body was found after several days, confirming the worst fears.<\/p>\n<p>This heartbreaking loss has plunged the Austin community and the nation into mourning.
