<\/p>\nDonald Trump has brushed off a strange and unsettling remark from an advisor to Iran\u2019s Supreme Leader, who joked on national television about the president being targeted by a drone while sunbathing at Mar-a-Lago.<\/p>\n
\u201dTrump can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago\u201d
\nThe comment came from Mohammad-Javad Larijani, a senior advisor to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, during a broadcast on Iranian TV on July 9. While discussing Iran\u2019s military technology, Larijani laughed as he imagined Trump being struck by a micro-drone mid-relaxation, per The Independent.<\/p>\n
\u201cTrump can no longer sunbathe in Mar-a-Lago,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause while he\u2019s lying down, a micro-drone might target and strike him right in the navel.\u201d<\/p>\n
Though Larijani added: \u201cOf course, we fight like men,\u201d seemingly walking back the threat, the statement still caught attention in the U.S., and made its way into a Fox News interview with Trump.<\/p>\n
Asked by host Peter Doocy when he last went sunbathing, Trump deadpanned: \u201cIt\u2019s been a long time. I don\u2019t know, maybe I was around seven or so. I\u2019m not too big into it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He then casually dismissed Larijani\u2019s remark: \u201cI guess it\u2019s a threat. I\u2019m sure it\u2019s not a threat, actually, but perhaps it is.\u201d<\/p>\n
The comments from Iran come shortly after Trump confirmed he would \u201cabsolutely\u201d consider launching another strike on Iran, following a June U.S. operation that targeted three key nuclear sites.<\/p>\n
Asked by a reporter whether he would bomb the country again if intelligence showed troubling uranium enrichment, Trump responded, \u201cSure, without question. Absolutely, it has to be unbelievable.\u201d<\/p>\n
He went on to describe both Iran and Israel as \u201cexhausted,\u201d saying, \u201cThe last thing they\u2019re thinking about right now is nuclear. You know what they\u2019re thinking of? They\u2019re thinking about tomorrow, trying to live.\u201d<\/p>\n
In response to Larijani\u2019s remarks, the U.S. Secret Service declined to comment on specific protective intelligence but issued a brief statement to Newsweek: \u201cWe operate in a heightened and very dynamic threat environment, and the safety and security of the President and all of our protectees remains our highest priority.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
