The 57-year-old TV presenter expressed gratitude for the many blessings in his life: family, friends, health, and adventures. At the core of his post was a tribute to his father, whom he credited as the foundation for those blessings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“I have so much to be thankful for in this life,” he\u00a0wrote. “But the reason I have these blessings, these opportunities, is because of my DAD (and my mom).”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Guy went on to describe the lasting impact of his father’s absence, sharing how he often longs to call him for advice or simply to talk. Guy’s 2025 tribute marked the second Father’s Day he has spent without his dad, Jim, who died in January 2024 after\u00a0battling pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his wife Penelope, Guy and his wife Lori, and grandchildren Hunter, Ryder, and Jules.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

June last year marked the first time Guy observed the occasion without Jim. In an Instagram video at the time, the restaurateur\u00a0admitted\u00a0it was a “tough day” for him. “But even when you’re having a tough day, some little miracles happen in the world,” he shared.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Guy also recalled spending the day surrounded by loved ones, including a touching moment when his friend’s daughter gave him a personalized glass.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“Today at dinner, she came up and gave me a card and handed me this glass that says, ‘Only the best uncles are promoted to godfather,’ and asked me if I’d be her godfather. Pretty special day,” he\u00a0said. The caption of his post also\u00a0read, “I said I would be honored and YES.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Guy once reflected on his father’s strength and resilience during his battle with pancreatic cancer, sharing that Jim had been five years cancer-free by the time he celebrated his 80th birthday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He admired how his father supported others facing the same diagnosis. “He’s been a great advocate for people that have gone through it,” he\u00a0shared. Acknowledging the seriousness of the illness, he added, “It’s not a great success rate. But I think you got to live every single day. That’s the biggest thing, is you never know what tomorrow’s going to bring.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At the time, Guy emphasized that his family remained his top priority, especially as his parents grew older and their needs became more pressing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Guy often credited his father as a personal role model. “I wanted to be a dad, I wanted to be a great dad. I want to be like my dad,” he\u00a0said. He described both his parents as his heroes, hardworking, devoted to their family, and active in their community. The TV personality also aspired to follow their example.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In a September 2024 “In Depth with Graham Bensinger” interview, Guy reflected on the\u00a0emotional aftermath\u00a0of his father’s death, explaining that he became deeply withdrawn in the first few days. He isolated himself from others and struggled to engage with anyone as he tried to process the loss.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Amid his grief, a spiritual medium and family friend, Karen, reached out and said she had received an urgent message from his father. “She said, ‘Your dad is blowing me up.’ I go, ‘What?’ She goes, ‘Your dad is all over me about you,'” Guy\u00a0recalled.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“She goes, ‘And they don’t come to me like this. It’s usually like five or six days.’ This was like day two. So she said, ‘He’s really hell bent at getting in touch with you.’ So that helped,” Guy said, adding that it brought him unexpected comfort during a painful time.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He also reflected on how the grieving process changed him. “All the things that I said I wouldn’t do: I wasn’t gonna go for the cremation part and take him there. I wasn’t gonna go do that.
